This film starts with a heavy exposure dump, then with subtle details; it shows the protagonist as a gay man in a very conservative and fascist time in Mexico.
The film feels not committed to anything and aimed too high for the low budget it had to play with; the photography is not interesting and looks like it lacked a proper colorist in production, but some scenes had an amazing use of the camera and angle, though they were few and far between; the best scene, and the most jarring, was the arrest and cruel exposure of the 41 participants.
The gay representation feels to lack more in the roles of the man of the era. The protagonist is empty and thirsty for power, or just a victim of his context.
