Buddha: The Great Departure

手塚治虫のブッダ 赤い砂漠よ!美しく

8.5/10
The film adapts the manga interpretation of the late legend and father of manga & anime,
Osamu Tezuka, Watching this animated featured film was amazing but also frustrating, it seemed like budget and time were a big limiter here, the pacing was excellent, the plot and characters warm and real that actually made the visuals and soundtrack pale in compression, the film should have had more budget thus more animators, more time for all the staff to deliver a film that would have been critically acclaimed nevertheless, the film was outstanding and had talent and I cannot help but blame the marketing to not have made the film more popular, it is a truly a hidden gem.
Directed by: Kōzō Morishita
