This film is amazing, the setting, the story, the Lovecraft under the hood terror, the characters, and the incredible stop-motion animation that just fits with the source material.
I found no real information on how the team contemplated the 3D version into the equation and surely it does not feel like Avatar where 3D was crucial for the experience but not to say that this 3D felt out of place, the tunnel to the other world, the perspective from other mother getting taller, the scale of Pink Palace and more to add up does seem to benefit from 3D but not created thus I theorize that since Stop motion is about depth like CGI the conversion was not difficult and ended up doing it because of logistics.
